Raw foods & Superfoods
What is the raw food lifestyle about?
Eating raw foods is about eating natural, “real” foods (i.e. not processed “fake” foods). It is about eating plant based foods in their uncooked state thereby preserving the nutrients and enzymes that are usually destroyed by cooking. This enables you to get the maximum benefit from your foods whilst putting the least amount of strain on your body. These foods mainly include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts, superfoods and microgreens.
Do you have to eat 100% raw foods to feel the benefits?
The short answer is absolutely not. Eating raw foods doesn’t have to be an all or nothing concept. You can feel the benefits by even making a few small changes to your lifestyle. Usually, the more changes you make, the more benefits you feel which encourages you to make even more changes!
What are Superfoods?
Superfoods are foods that are exceptionally nutritionally dense and energetically powerful. They are foods that have usually been revered in certain cultures for their healing properties and health benefits. They are packed with micronutrients (vitamins, minerals and antioxidants) and they are different from supplements in that they are natural whole foods.
Superfoods are an integral part of the raw food lifestyle providing easily absorbable nutrients and increased energy levels.
Some commonly available and popular superfoods are:
1. Goji berries
2. Cacao (Raw chocolate)
7. Camu camu berry
8. Chia seeds
9. Grasses (e.g. barley grass and wheatgrass)
10. Hemp seed

How do I get started?
Most people prefer to focus on including exciting new foods rather than to focus on eliminating things initially. Once you have started to feel the benefits of the healthy foods it becomes easier to cut out the foods that are bad for you.
The easiest way to start experiencing the benefits is to follow some of these easy steps:
1. Start including some of the superfoods in your diet.
2. Have salad as the main portion of every lunch and dinner.
3. Have a superfoods smoothie for breakfast.
4. Start green juicing!
